British newspaper the Evening Standard has published a feature titled “8 Beautiful European Islands You’ve Never Heard Of,” with one Croatian islands making the list.
The southern Dalmatian island of Lastovo, described as a ‘hidden yet attractive island’, has made the top 8 with islands in Greece, Italy, Sweden, Portugal, Spain, Denmark, and France.
The featured article particularly highlights the natural beauty of the Lastovo Nature Park, which, compared to exciting destinations like the island of Hvar, offers plenty of opportunities for an active vacation in perfect harmony with nature.
From discovering hiking trails through dense forests to kayaking, cycling, and diving in the crystal-clear Adriatic Sea, the journalist further emphasises the mysterious coves and other rocky locations shaded by lighthouses, as well as the pebble beaches ideal for relaxation.
An additional value of visiting the island lies in enjoying the indispensable and authentic culinary specialties abundant in lavish seasonal ingredients.
Evening Standard has a readership of over 12 million, and it is particularly popular among the younger population.
According to the eVisitor system data, there have been over 241,400 arrivals and over a million overnight stays from the British market in the current part of the year, representing a 9% increase in arrivals and a 5% increase in overnight stays compared to the same period last year.
