March 3 (SeeNews) – Marina operator Adriatic Croatia International Club (ACI) said it has applied for a grant from the European Union within a flagship initiative in the North Adriatic, the North Adriatic Hydrogen Vally project.
Our intention is the ACI marina Opatija in Icici to be the first ACI marina, where the entire hydrogen value chain would be developed, including production of energy from renewable sources, energy storage, energy efficiency measures and usage of hydrogen in the water transport sector, ACI said in a press release last week.

It did not disclose the value of the grant that it is seeking from the EU.
The Clean Hydrogen Partnership, a public-private partnership supporting research and innovation activities in hydrogen technologies in Europe, said earlier this year that the North Adriatic Hydrogen Valley project has been admitted to negotiations with the European Commission for the allocation of a 25 million euro ($26 million) grant.
The North Adriatic Hydrogen Valley is an initiative supported by the governments of Croatia, Slovenia and the local authorities of Friuli Venezia Giulia. It includes 34 organisations active in production, storage and distribution as well as the end use of hydrogen. The partners will develop pilot projects for the production of more than 5,000 tonnes of green hydrogen per year from renewable energy sources and its storage, distribution and use.
