Koprivnica warmly welcomes “dear and pleasant” Chinese tourists and will continue to provide high-quality services for them, said Misel Jaksic, mayor of the northern Croatian city, in an interview with Xinhua on Monday.
“Chinese tourists have always been our dear and pleasant guests in our city and we will be delighted to see even more of them in Koprivnica, where they can find plenty of interesting things to see and do,” Jaksic said, adding that Koprivnica is a place that offers “many attractions and numerous historical stories.”
In particular, Jaksic extended his warm welcome to Chinese tourists visiting the traditional outdoor Easter eggs exhibition held at the City Park, which he claimed is the most famous in Croatia.
Moreover, the Koprivnica Easter eggs have become so popular that they have been sent as gifts to be displayed in public areas outside the country, Jaksic noted.
On March 31, the Tourist Board of Koprivnica-Krizevci County unveiled its annual exhibition of large decorated Easter eggs titled “Painted Easter eggs from the heart,” and the Easter eggs, 2.05-meters high and 1.5-meters wide each, are believed to be the largest in size in Croatia. The exhibition will last until April 17.
Ever since 2008, the Tourist Board of the Koprivnica-Krizevci County has been the first in Croatia to launch the project to create large Easter eggs painted in a naive style, a showcase for the impressive painting style depicting the rural life of northern Croatia.
