Croatia’s Valdarke Investing 15 mln Euro in Marriott Hotel

Croatian tourism and real estate company Valdarke said it will open a 15 million euro ($16 million) five-star hotel under the brand Autograph Collection by Marriott on the Adriatic island of Cres at the beginning of the next summer.

“Autograph Collection by Marriott is currently hiring the future team of at least 75 employees and all positions for job at the hotel are open,” Valdarke and Marriott said in a joint press release.

Investor in the hotel is Valdarke, whose CEO Nikola Avram is founder of regional company Alpha Hotel Management, which has been licensed by Marriott International to develop the hotel brand in southeastern Europe.

The hotel will be the first one under the Marriott brand on a Croatian Adriatic island. It will have 49 rooms, two outdoors swimming pools, a beach bar and wellness centre.

The current portfolio of Marriott International in Croatia includes five hotels: Sheraton Dubrovnik Riviera, Le Meridien Lav Split, AC Hotel by Marriott Split, Westin Hotel Zagreb and Sheraton Hotel Zagreb. In 2025, Opatija Marriott Hotel is expected to open.

Another hotel under the Autograph Collection brand is planned to open in 2026 in Komiza, on Croatia’s southern Adriatic island of Vis.
