March 3 (SeeNews) – Labour demand in Croatia edged up 1.2% on the year in February, the lowest growth rate in the last two years, a local think-tank said on Tuesday.
“However, seasonally adjusted data for the first two months of this year indicate a moderate growth on a quarterly level in the first quarter,” the Institute of Economics Zagreb (EIZ) said in a monthly report on labour demand measured by its EIZ Online Vacancy Index (OVI).
According to seasonally adjusted data, the OVI index recorded an increase of 1.0% in February compared to January. This is a significantly lower rate compared to January, when the index increased by 5% compared to December 2022.
Salesperson, cook, and waiter are still the most sought-after occupations, although the number of job advertisements for waiters and cooks dropped in February on an annual comparison basis. The largest drop in absolute terms was recorded for programmers and cooks, while the highest increase was recorded for salesperson, teacher, and driver.
Compared to February 2022, the share of job advertisements seeking employees with secondary education increased to 32.8% from 29.6%, while the share of those seeking lower levels of education fell to 10.3% from 10.7%.
