President of Croatia to Arrive in Visit to Bosnia and Herzegovina

The President of the Republic of Croatia, Zoran Milanović, will arrive in Široki Brijeg on August 15.

“The association of the first volunteers of the first volunteer unit of the Poskok Battalion of the Croatian National Defense invited the President of the Republic of Croatia, Zoran Milanović, to the ceremonial academy that will be held on August 15 in Široki Brijeg,” confirmed this to the Bild.ba portal, PRH Office spokesman Nikola Jelić.

The PRH office has not yet announced the program and details of President Milanović’s stay in Široki Brijeg, spokesperson Jelić said that the media will be informed about it in time.

However, Bild.ba has unofficially learned that during the ceremonial academy in Široki Brijeg, President Milanović should also honor the Poskok Battalion of the HVO.

On the 15th August, Široki Brijeg celebrates the Day of the town and its patron saint, that is, the feast of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary into heaven.

According to Catholic beliefs, the Virgin Mary gave birth to Jesus Christ, the Son of God, who redeemed the sins of the world with his death.

In many countries with a predominantly Catholic majority, the Great Assumption is also celebrated as a secular holiday, that is, a non-working day.
