Red, sweet and especially hot peppers are said to have many healing effects and are the soul of a lot of dishes in Croatia’s Baranja region, especially fish specialties such as stews.
Today, Baranja paprika has become a recognisable Croatian product. “Red Baranja Gold” can be found everywhere and soon the 14th festival dedicated to the paprika will take place in Lug in Baranja.
The 14th PaprikaFest will take place from 30 September-1 October in Lug. The unique Croatian festival will see dozens of stands selling local fresh, ground, sweet and hot peppers.
During the two-day festival, there will also be a competition where the best local paprika will be judged as well as the best fish paprika stew. There will also be other entertainment for all ages over the weekend.
The small settlement of Lug is located in the Bilje municipality within the Osijek-Baranja County.
The festival is organised by LD Fazan, Udruga mladih Lug, HMDK Lasko – DZHH Lug, Ott Lasko – DVD Lug.
