“We’re done” and began again. Four nations will supply meat and butchery animals

According to Tarımdan Haber, Minister of Agriculture and Forestry Vahit Kirişci pressed the button for carcass meat imports after butchery animals. While a major blow has been dealt to domestic production due to the wrong policies applied in animal husbandry, the recent increase in meat prices has been tried to be prevented by importing meat and animals.

Former Minister of Agriculture and Forestry Bekir Pakdemirli said in an interview that he made on a TV channel in 2020 and shared on the social media accounts of the Ministry, that meat imports in Turkey were over. Pakdemirli used the following expressions in the interview:

“We have finished meat imports with the Presidential Government System. There are funds on livestock, there is no way they can be raised. In 2022, there is no problem of meat in imports, there is no problem with butchery. In 2022, we will completely end the imports related to stockbreeding. As of today, it is enough for our producers and breeders to know that there will be no meat imports. “

CONTRACTS SIGNED FOR IMPORTS FROM URUGUAY, POLAND, ROMANIA AND BOSNIA AND HERZEGOVINA

According to the information received from the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry officials, many of the top bureaucrats of the Meat and Dairy Authority are abroad for imports. It is stated that different teams in Europe and South America are in search of butchery and carcass meat to be imported.

4 THOUSAND ANIMALS ARE LOADING FROM URUGUAY

It is noted that the contract for 4,000 butchery animals to be imported from Uruguay was signed and the animals were loaded onto the ship and set off.

2 THOUSAND BUTCHERS FOUND FROM ROMANIA PROBLEM IN THE CONTRACT

It is stated that outside of Uruguay, the Meat and Dairy Authority authorities have made an attempt to import 2,000 head of butcher’s animals from Romania, and it is emphasized that there is a problem in the import contract of 2,000 butcher’s animals and this problem is being tried to be solved.

500 TONS OF CARCASES MEAT TO BE IMPORTED FROM POLAND

The Ministry of Agriculture, which paves the way for carcass meat imports apart from butchery animals, will initially import 500 tons of carcass meat from Poland through the Meat and Dairy Institution. It is noted that the contracts for the import of 500 tons of carcass meat from Poland have also been signed.

THOUSANDS OF BONELESS MEAT TO BE IMPORTED FROM BOSNIA AND HERZEGOVINA

It is stated that the Meat and Milk Institution, which has been working on boneless meat to be imported from Bosnia and Herzegovina for a while, has come to the end of these studies. Accordingly, 1000 tons of boneless meat will be imported from Bosnia and Herzegovina in the first place.

THEY TURNED THE MINISTRY OF AGRICULTURE INTO THE MINISTRY OF IMPORTS

While the imports of butchery animals and carcass meat reveal the painful situation Turkey has fallen into in animal husbandry, the fact that Minister Kirişçi and his team are still on duty, who laid the groundwork for these imports with the wrong policies, reveals the situation the Ministry has fallen into.

THE MINISTER WANTED TIME TO SOLVE THE PROBLEMS IN LIVESTOCK 3.5 MONTHS AGO

On the other hand, Minister Kirişçi, in a statement he made 3.5 months ago, promised those who reacted to the problems in animal husbandry, stating that it is only 8 months since he took office and that even the child was born in 9 months, saying, “If you wait a little, we will overcome all of this.”

In his speech at the Edirne Agricultural Sector Representatives meeting last November, Kirişçi stated that there were some problems in cattle and sheep and said, “Let me tell you before you say it. I know that there are some problems, both large and small. But it’s been 8 months since I took office, you know the child is born in 9 months. Therefore, if you wait a little bit, we will overcome all of them.”

Although the time requested by Minister Kirişçi has already expired, no problem has been resolved in animal husbandry. As the problems were not resolved, the country was left to import meat.
